About Goodfoot

Goodfoot brings new technology into everyday work. We build software, investigate how AI systems behave, and help companies improve the workflows they depend on.

From Client Work to Products

Goodfoot began in 2015. Some of our earliest projects helped large companies move video between systems they already used. That work expanded into encoders, delivery networks, and complete enterprise video systems.

Software and hardware developed through those projects became products, commercialized through Bunch, a separate company later acquired by Uniguest. Goodfoot remained independent, and our enterprise consulting continues.

Those products grew from problems customers were already trying to solve. Working in their environments meant understanding the infrastructure, the people responsible for it, and the support needed to keep it running.

Helping People and Agents Work Together

Our own work with AI brings communication into focus again. A plan needs to survive beyond a conversation. An agent needs to understand how a change affects other work. People need to follow what is happening across parallel tasks.

These questions shape our products. Cards keeps a task’s plan, conversations, and commits together. git-span, available under the MIT license, records relationships across files and surfaces them when an agent reads or edits the connected code. Upstream, coming soon, turns repository content into live websites and shares updates in real time so people and agents can coordinate their work.

Writing to Understand

Explaining things has a long history here. Before Goodfoot, our founder created and sold a technical publication. That curiosity continues through our newsletter, which investigates how AI systems behave and what research reveals about their capabilities and limitations.

We follow questions through the evidence: what researchers tested, what their results establish, and what remains unresolved. Publishing makes that reasoning available for other people to examine, use, and question.

Moving in the Right Direction

The name Goodfoot comes from James Brown’s “Get on the Good Foot,” a nod to our Southern roots and the idea of moving in the right direction. Today, we’re based in New York, working with clients in person and remotely.

Our consulting begins with understanding what is happening. The right next step might be connecting existing tools, building missing software, or helping people use what they already have. Integration, training, and support help put the change into use.

The aim is to leave people with systems they can work with—and enough understanding to carry the work forward.
